• History: Madeline had an uneventful life until her parents' messy divorce when she was 6 years old. At the same time, her burgeoning friendship with Leah and her baby sister Rachel got her through the hard time.
  
  It was her turn to comfort Leah when Rachel passed away at 10 years old from what was initially assumed to be a bear attack. Leah, however, was certain a devil caused Rachel's death. Though Madeline remained skeptical of the existence of devils, she supported her friend anyway and helped her with moving to Madeline's home Hemera County.
  
  In an attempt to better understand Leah's perspective regarding devils, she began listening to Zeke Swanson's (in)famous radio show, where he would frequently discuss devil encounters with his callers. Eventually, she took up an internship at the same radio station. During this internship, she met the boy who would become her first love: Joshua. Though Leah never fully approved of their relationship, and Madline didn't care for Joshua's friend Isaac, the two started dating in 2007.
  
  Madeline only grew closer to Joshua after his self-harming landed him in the hospital. She reconciled with Isaac as they both tried to help him through an issue none of them fully understood.
  
  Joshua ended up living with Madeline for a few months towards the end of 2008. The arrangement was short-lived. Between Madeline's perilous financial situation, Joshua's devil hunting business suffering a drought of clients, and his cagey attitude towards his mental health, the tension quickly boiled over. Joshua stormed out, and Madeline had no choice but to end the turbulent relationship.
  
  A few weeks after the breakup, Zeke suddenly ghosted her. Shortly after this, Isaac and Joshua went missing, with Leah fearing the worst for Isaac's safety. Though she was aware of how unhelpful the Nox police could be, going to them seemed to be the only option.
