• History: Joshua was the only survivor of what was initially reported as a family-annihilating animal attack. Following what was thought to be a miraculous survival at 3 years old, Joshua moved from relative to relative. Though what was left of his family tried to support him, their Evangelical, fundamentalist lifestyle clashed horribly with Joshua's rebellious nature.
  
  Joshua finally found real companionship when he met Isaac in middle school. After spending time with the older boy, he developed a genuine connection with another human for the first time. However, Joshua ran out of relatives who would take him in a few years later, leaving him with either the foster care system or homelessness. Joshua chose homelessness, living out of a rusted hatchback in the woods until Isaac found out a year later. After that, he started living in the Hawthorne household.
  
  Shortly after graduating high school, he entered his first ever long-term relationship with Madeline, who let him broadcast advertisements for his freelance devil hunting business at the radio station she was interning at. Madeline was always much more interested in him than he was in her, but he craved the physical affection that came with the relationship enough that he tried his best to be her ideal partner.
  
  A couple months later, Joshua met Leah through her YouTube channel. Since he also suspected his family had been impacted by devils, he volunteered his knowledge as a devil hunter to help her create a resource for anyone who wanted to know the truth. This collaboration created the Red Dragon Project. However, Leah had to distance herself from Joshua as his attempts to find more information about devils became more and more legally dubious. Joshua roped Isaac into taking over as the new face of the channel.
  
  Joshua was kicked out of the Hawthornes' a year later after taking the fall for Isaac's drug habit. After a week of homelessness, he became roommates with Madeline. This put an immense strain on their relationship, between her job at the radio station barely making ends meet and a drought of devil hunting jobs. Joshua's intrusive thoughts and anger issues got worse until Madeline had to break up with him.
  
  Shortly after the breakup, Joshua got himself and RDP in deep trouble when he stole confidential documents from the Nox County police station. This act forced him to go on the run. Isaac, ever the loyal friend, accompanied him as an extra set of eyes and hands. The two lived and worked out of a run-down hotel until one fateful call changed everything.
  
  Following Isaac bailing on the hunt and hours of getting lost in the bizarre house, Joshua had to find his way back to the hotel by himself. After finding their SUV abandoned on the side of the road, with blood staining the snow, he assumed Isaac was killed and informed Leah of this via text. At the hotel, Joshua tried to de-stress by listening to his favorite songs on his MP3 player. A voice began to overlay the music. A familiar voice - too familiar. After tossing his earbuds out, a creature emerged from the wires in a burst of static. A spider-like creature with a hauntingly familiar face. He told Joshua he couldn't run from his fate any longer.
  
  At the entity's words, the veil Joshua had been comfortably living under was forcefully, painfully removed. He wasn't the real Joshua, but another devil: a demon from Hell. He and thousands of others were created by Lucifer and the familiar face, Cairyx, to gain the trust of humans and one day herald the end times as an Antichrist. However, Luce failed to account for Joshua's free will, and Joshua used his freedom to reject this fate, no matter what consequences would follow his choice.

  • Joshua is talented at drawing, but he rarely has the motivation to do it.
  • He took up gardening following his escape from The Nightmare Sand Pit, and has an herb garden covering the balcony of the Rochester apartment.
  • He's a godawful cook, but he's trying to learn (with very mixed results.)
  • He still has the plush rabbit Madeline gave him, and he named it Lynnie after his mother Marilyn. He has not told anyone this.
  • His favorite music is post-punk and metalcore, with his current favorite band being Alexisonfire.
