• History: Jessie initially joined Nox County PD in an attempt to change the system from the inside to be more beneficial to her communities. However, her goal shifted as she watched her rookie underling, Officer Andrew Peters, spiral into obsession over the alleged devil sightings around the southeast Iowa region. In an attempt to bring him back to her understanding of reality, she offered to supervise during an investigation into the sudden disappearance of the Atkin family.
  
  The two walked into a bloodbath. The remains of Marilyn and Joe Atkin were splattered across the walls and floor of the hallway leading to their son's bedroom. Jessie went into the bedroom, while the nervous Officer Peters kept watch. To her surprise, the 3-year-old boy was unharmed and alive, though clearly in a state of shock given his lack of cries. Just then, she heard something moving around the living room, something large, followed by Andrew's terrified screams. The shadow of the inhuman assailant told her everything she needed to know, everything she didn't want to believe. She chose to protect the younger of the two lives, escaping with the toddler through the bedroom window. She dropped the boy off at the station so any surviving relatives could take him home.
  
  Though she wanted nothing more than to put the experience behind her like a bad dream, it got harder and harder to ignore the irrefutable existence of devils as the years went by. By 1996, even other officers were going missing in the fields and forests. Jessie couldn't let herself become another missing person flier - not before understanding what she saw at the Atkin house. In 1996, she retired from the force and went into hiding.
  
  She secretly enlisted the help of Zeke Swanson, a popular Nox radio personality known for reporting and discussing devil encounter stories. He provided her with every piece of footage and documentation he could get his hands on, and it started to paint an alarming picture about the true nature of devils. A nature she anonymously reported to the Bureau of Solomonic Affairs.
  
  As if her life couldn't become any more complicated, she eventually drove by a terrified young man covered in his own blood stumbling his way down the road. A young man with more answers to her painful past than she could ever have guessed.
